(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) The Doha-based Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) has concluded a workshop under the theme of Developing Strategies and Strategic Planning that was held from Monday to Wednesday at its headquarters in the presence of participants from GCC and Yemen. GOIC Secretary General Abdulaziz bin Hamad Al-Ageel handed certificates to the trainees, highlighting the importance of strategies and strategic planning to successfully complete projects and put institutions on the right track. He said the workshop will help participants carry out their tasks by providing them with the knowledge and correct foundations to prepare a comprehensive and cohesive strategic plan and develop an executive plan to implement strategies. "This workshop is among GOIC's endeavors aiming at building national capacities in the area of developing strategies and strategic planning in order to help decision makers develop correct policies boosting Gulf economies," Al-Ageel said. The training was attended by professionals in charge of developing, following up and evaluating strategies within ministries of industry, economy and planning as well as statistics authorities. It was also attended by officials responsible of creating industrial data, researchers and a number of private institutions and companies from GCC and Yemen. Participants commended the workshop that "has strengthened their knowledge of concepts related to strategies and strategic planning, in addition to major necessary steps such as: vision, mission, pillars, requirements, values, strategic goals, periodic objectives, gap analysis, strategic planning and performance indicators," a press release by GOIC said on Wednesday. The trainees were also capable of identifying factors of success and failure when it comes to developing strategies. This workshop is set to be followed by a second one under the theme of Successful Implementation of a Strategy to Improve an Institution's Performance. It will be organized by GOIC from May 19 to 22. GOIC is a regional organization that brings together Qatar, UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait and Yemen. It is an advisory knowledge-based institution aiming at developing regional industries by providing data, information, specialized researches, consultations and technical services for the public and private sectors in GCC states. GOIC is the top industrial consultations hub in GCC countries and Yemen, seeking industrial integration and coordination between member states and working to shape a regional industrial policy.
