Filming of first Malayalam movie in Oman begins


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Indian journalist John Brittas is in the sultanate to shoot a Malayalam film. The film, with Brittas as the protagonist, is a first from the state of Kerala to be shot entirely in Oman.


The film titled In the Silver Light is based on a novel, Sulthan Nadu, by C V Balakrishnan, a well-known writer. The author had visited Oman in the late eighties and early nineties and was inspired to write the book. The film is being directed by Madhu Kaithapram.


The 50-member crew of the film has already started shooting in the sultanate.


Brittas, who is also the managing director of Indian television channel Kairali TV, said, ''I have acted in movies previously, but the roles were of a journalist. So, in a way, I was playing myself. But in this film, I play a person who is working in Oman''


The film will also cast Indians residing in Oman.


''The director could have easily shot the film in India, but he wanted everything to be original. We plan to wrap up the shoot in a few weeks and begin post-production soon,'' he said.
