(MENAFN Press) For the first time ever, three collections of paintings from the private Kataria Art Collection were unveiled in the UAE yesterday. Normally housed in a private Kataria gallery in Dubai, the paintings were shown for the first time to an exclusive invited audience at The Meydan Hotel in partnership with Pegas Art Gallery, and will remain on show for the general public today (Sunday 16 February, 2014).

The evening was officiated by the Ambassador of Singapore to the UAE, HE Mr. Umej Singh Bhatia and the Ambassador of Ukraine to the UAE, HE Mr. Polurez Yuriy Vladimirovich. Held just after Valentine's Day, the timing of the show was apt given theme of the collection is 'Love and Culture'. A total of 34 pieces were on display, the art forms three mini collections entitled "Nostalgia", "Jewels of Paradise" and "Fables of my Land". The artworks are on display for art-lovers to appreciate but the exhibition is not commercial and none the paintings are available to purchase

Artist Svitlana Osobik was commissioned by Kataria Art Collections for all paintings within the collections. Having spent over a decade working from Dubai, Osobik's work is both inspired by and has contributed to life and culture in Dubai. The three themed collections have been a work in progress since 2005 and having worked closely with patron Shital Kataria, each work of art reflects the story of both the artist and the commissioner

The Dubai exhibition is the first exclusive showing in a world tour which is planned to take place next year including stops in Miami and Europe. The next showing will be in Abu Dhabi later this year

About Kataria Art Collections
Shital Kataria is the chairperson of Kataria Art Collections within the Kataria Family Foundation. Born in Nairobi, Kenya she has also lived in London and is now based in Dubai. Shital commissions all artworks for the Kataria Art Collection, working with artist Svitlana Osobik. "Art from Heart" is the slogan for Kataria Art Collections inaugurated within the Kataria Family Foundation in the year 2005. The current Art Collections are named "Nostalgia", "Jewels of Paradise" and "Fables of my Land".About Svitlana OsobikSvitlana Osobik was born in Poltava, a town in central Ukraine. She graduated in 1986 with a degree in art from the prestigious Academy of Decorative Arts in Lviv. Svitlana's art grapples with the issues of nostalgia, legacies and lost imaginary homelands. She is a multi-talented artist who has dabbled in various art forms such as porcelain painting, batik art, silkscreen painting, and tapestries, before settling on oils on canvas as her favourite medium. Her deep emotional ties and spiritual connection with her homeland are explored in several paintings, the most direct reference being in her canvas Kyev Rus. Subliminal cultural influences and historic references are a recurring theme in her works.About Pegas Art GalleryOfficially established in 2013, Pegas Gallery started in 2012 with a series of artist projects emphasizing on contemporary art-work of the highest calibre. The Gallery represents a varied selection of local and international art, carefully selected by well established and emerging artists. Dr. Dinara and her team are happy to arrange on-site consultations to assist with the best selection and placement of art-works, and to advice on framing, restoration and or conservation of artworks. In addition, Dr.Dinara provides an Art Service for both - individual and corporate clients. Services include valuations of contemporary and early art, auction and dealer representation for the purchase or resale of art-works.
