(MENAFN - Arab Times) MP Hussein Al- Quwaian has forwarded questions to Minister of Commerce and Industry Mohsen Madej on the alleged distribution of radioactive Japanese cars to Kuwait and other Gulf states. Al-Quwaian inquired about the preventive measures taken by the ministry on Japanese products after the Fukushima plant incident

He wants to know if radiological tests have been conducted on all Japanese products entering Kuwait. If yes, he wants details, such as the mechanism for the inspection of Japanese cars and containers. He asked if nuclear radiation was detected in Japanese products after the Fukushima plant incident on March 11, 2011

He went on to inquire: Do cars undergo radiation test in Japan prior to export? Does the ministry receive documents showing the products are free of radiation from the suppliers certified by the Japanese government? What measures does the ministry take to detect radiation in Japanese products? In another development, Al-Quwaian asked Minister of Education and Higher Education Ahmad Al-Mulaifi on the decision of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) to suspend an expatriate doctorate lecturer at the Department of Physical Education in the Faculty of Basic Education. He wants the minister to provide him with a copy of the decision, reason for suspension and if an inquiry commission has been formed to look into the issue. If yes, submit copies of the decision of the commission, its records and complaints that led to the suspension of the lecturer

On the other hand, Al-Quwaian requested the minister to provide him with copies of all decisions on the formation of committees tasked to study intellectual property rights cases. He wants to know if disciplinary committees have been formed to take action against those proven to have stolen or copied ideas of others. If not, what are the reasons for failure to form such panels

Meanwhile, MP Rakan Yousef forwarded parliamentary queries to the minister on the cancellation of a political seminar on the GCC Security Agreement that the Kuwait University Teaching Staff Association was supposed to organize on Feb 17, 2014. He wants to know why the university administration canceled the seminar. He asked whether holding seminars, of whatever nature, in the university requires approval. If yes, he demanded for the procedures, necessary paperwork and copy of the request form

If the association asked permission to hold the seminar, he should be provided with copies of the request and response of the administration. He also demanded for copies of the last five requests to hold political seminars in the university by the Teaching Staff Association, student union or student clubs affiliated to the educational department; as well as the response of the administration. Commenting on the same issue, MP Nabil Al-Fadhel criticized the student union's statement against the Gulf Security Agreement, and their denouncement of the decision preventing members of the teaching staff in the university from discussing the agreement

He urged members of the union to focus on their studies rather than allowing themselves to be used as fuel for political movements. He claimed their rejection of the agreement is in compliance with the instruction of the Islamic Brotherhood, not their own conviction. He pointed out that millions of dinars are being spent on their education, not for the Brotherhood's political training. Meanwhile, MP Safa Al-Hashem questioned Finance Minister Anas Al-Saleh about the agricultural land being distributed to companies and individuals. She said the distribution of plots, farms and animal pens has been marred by controversies for many years. She also attributed the problem to the involvement of several ministries, especially after the transfer of control over the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) from the State Ministry of Municipal Affairs to the State Ministry for Cabinet Affairs, while taking into consideration the importance of the Finance Ministry in terms of financial control. She wants to know if the financial comptroller represents the Ministry of Finance, if the supervisor of the work of PAAAFR has requested a detailed statement of the beneficiaries of the plots and farms, and if the authority provided the comptroller with the necessary information. Furthermore, MP Askar Al-Enizi asserted the Public Authority for the Disabled building is in poor condition; made worse by the lack of parking space, small corridors, being located in the middle of a residential area, and the policy of receiving maximum 200 applicants a day. He proposed having an evening shift to cancel the 'maximum 200 applicants a day' policy; thereby, easing the procedures for the applicants
