British Council Researcher Links Workshop Opens at Aspire Academy

This year's theme of Youth, Health and Sport assembles Sports Science experts from Qatar and the UK at the first Researcher Links workshop in Qatar Researcher Links is a five-year British Council initiative that encourages international collaboration between young UK researchers and 18 countries, organisers sai



UK academic institutions are guiding this initiativ



It provides a forum for researchers to learn from one another and explore opportunities to build long-lasting research partnership



Participation in sports is important to ensure good health of young people and there is much scientific interest in exercise as a preventive medicine in response to lifestyle-related disease



This initiative provides opportunities to forge new research ties between the UK and countries beyond its traditional academic partners, organisers sai



Over the next three days, UK researchers from medicine, biology, health and physiotherapy will apply their knowledge to the challenges young people fac



Participants will discuss and identify joint research projects in paediatric exercise science, a new discipline in Qata



International collaboration improves the quality of researc



Citation rates increase with international co-authorship, and higher productivity levels of internationally mobile researcher



Qatar is expanding its research capacity as it moves towards a knowledge-based econom



This initiative will benefit research in Qatar and the UK. More workshops will follow later, organisers said.
