New ideas, vision 2040 to be focus of AIESEC Oman's Y2B forum

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Around 200 youths besides representatives from the corporate world are expected to take part in the day-long Youth to Business (Y2B) forum on March 1. Titled 'Leadership, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship: Youth Building Oman 2040', the forum will see entrepreneurs and CEOs of multinationals interact with Omani youths and hear out their aspirations.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Christina Khouri, vice president, talent management, AIESEC Oman said, ''The Y2B forum is aimed to create an environment for the youth to respond and come forward to change the face of the nation. This is a continued process as their involvement will bring in fresh ideas and help build an ideal business environment.''

The forum will discuss pressing global issues with an aim to generate new, but ‘actionable' ideas to shape a better future. This will be the fifth Y2B forum to be held in Oman. It will be held at Bait al Zubair Museum from 9am till 6pm.

It will have workshops, speeches and panel discussions led by Sharifa al Barami, executive partner of Al Jazeera Global Services Investments and founder of BizHub Entrepreneurs Co-working space; Bader al Lawati, who took part in the ‘2041 Antarctic Youth Programme' last year and corporate communications executive at Enhance; Tariq al Barwani, founder and president of Knowledge Oman and Soud al Banawi of Aramex.

The forum will have an analysis of the current 2020 vision, workshops on 'Innovation', 'Entrepreneurship', and 'Leadership', panel discussions on the development of the vision Oman 2040 and the role of new generation in the success of Oman 2040.

''Participants will come out of the conference empowered with skills and knowledge to take ownership of achieving Oman's 2040 vision. It will also give companies a stronger understanding on how to support youth development,'' said Stefany Araya, vice president of business development, AIESEC Oman and the conference manager.

''In line with our initiatives to support the Omani youth and hone their talents through such events, Bait al Zubair is proud to host this event,'' said Abdullah al Zubair, a representative of Bait al Zubair Museum.

The aim of Y2B is to provide both corporates and delegates an idea of what skills are needed by the Omani youth today, and what should be done to prepare them for success. ''We see youth work really hard in AIESEC to get skills and experience that would benefit them. This is the kind of passion that inspires us to do what we can to help them grow,'' said Lawat
