TSIC partners with Omantel on PoP for the Middle East

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) TeliaSonera International Carrier (TSIC) on Tuesday announced it has expanded its worldwide network with a Point of Presence (PoP) in Oman. Partnering with Oman Telecommunication Company (Omantel), TSIC will offer an extensive portfolio of IP, Ethernet, international voice and IPX-based services.

Partnering with Omantel is a natural step, given Oman's strategic location as a landing point for ten regional cable systems. Brendan Ives, President, TeliaSonera International Carrier, said, ''Oman is an important gateway to the Middle East. Partnering with Omantel was a natural choice in the expansion of our network allowing us to meet growing customer demands for high performance connectivity.''

Dr Amer al Rawas, CEO, Omantel, said, ''Oman's geographical advantage of being a natural hub enabled Omantel to become as a key interconnection point for international carriers. Partnering with TSIC positions us as a true link between the East and the West. It has expanded our visibility and positioned Omantel as the go-to provider for international carriers and service providers seeking to do business in Oman as well as the rest of the Middle East.''
