China's Jan. export figures not inflated, says official

(MENAFN) A commerce official in Chinese said that speculations that the country's strong export figures last month were inflated by hot money inflows disguised as trade payments are not true, Xinhua reported

Ministry of Commerce spokesman said that the10.6 percent increase in exports was due to a recovery in major developed economies

"We cannot rule out possibilities that a few companies conducted illicit transactions, but on the whole, the export growth number is reasonable and logical if you look at breakdown figures for different commodities and destination markets," he said

He added that the majority of provinces in the country registered robust growth, particularly in the less developed central and western parts of China
