(MENAFN - Kora) Neureuther was involved in a 'really terrifying' accident on his way to Munich airport on Friday, missing his flight to Russia

The 29-year-old has remained confident he can compete in the giant slalom on Wednesday and slalom three days later, but admits he is still feeling the effects of the accident

Neureuther expects to make a decision on Tuesday, and may skip the giant slalom to focus on an event he believes is his better medal chance

"I will try to ski, just see if it's possible for me. No slalom just regular skiing for starters. That will be the first test," he said

"On Tuesday I will try to do a training session and if that worked out I will make a decision if makes sense to start on Wednesday or not

"I am not going to take any risks or start by hook or crook that would make no sense

"Saturday there will be the slalom and I have to say that my chances are better in the slalom and that's why I don't want to make any risky decision for Wednesday

"I will take it day by day, one step after another. And the final decision will be made on Tuesday.

Neureuther was driving to Munich airport when he hit a patch of ice, lost control and hit a barrier on Friday

He believes he is getting the best treatment in Sochi and hopes to be fit for his events despite neck and back pain

"First of all you are happy that the accident wasn't worse, but then all that stress because of the media. That was really intense for me," Neureuther said

"Now I'm feeling quite well, of course my back and neck still hurt, but today I got treated four times and here I have the perfect maintenance

"That was also a reason for the decision to come to Sochi. Here we have the best therapists. We will do our very best to get me fit for Wednesday and Saturday so I will be able to start.
