Qatar second in hosting foreign students in region

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar along with UAE has the highest net flow ratio of inbound (overseas students studying in the country) and outbound students (nationals studying overseas) students when compared to other Arab countries, said a report

The UAE ranked first in Arab world with a ratio of 30 followed by Qatar in the second spot with 9.7, according to Unesco Institute for Statistics (UIS).

The ratio of the rest of Arab world is as low as 8.1 for Morocco, 4.5 for Tunisia, 5.4 for Lebanon, it added

The UAE has 34,122 inbound students (overseas students studying here), against 7,719 outbound students (local students studying abroad), said the UIS study, which is the primary source for cross-nationally comparable statistics on education in more than 200 countries and territories

These figures have put the emirates at No.1 position in net flow ratio of inbound and outbound mobile students, while most of the other Arab countries have a negative ratios, dropping to -52.1 in the extreme case of Djibouti, it added

These were recently highlighted by Carian College Advisers, the UAE's leading independent educational consultancy focusing exclusively on US admissions, as it announced a scholarship competition for high school students in the UAE

Peter Davos, the managing director of Carian College Advisors, said the UAE topping the list among Arab countries speaks volumes for the high demand among the Emiarti students to pursue university degrees in reputed, quality-driven universities within or outside the country
