New board of Oman Trade Unions elected


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The General Federation of Oman Trade Unions (GFOTU) elected its new board at a conference held at Grand Hyatt Muscat on Sunday. Nabhan Ahmed al Battashi, former deputy chairman of GFOTU and ex-chairman of the labour union of Grand Hyatt Muscat was elected as its new chairman while Ishaq Jaafar al Kharusi was elected as deputy chairman.


During the conference, attended by 112 trade unions and more than 220 participants, new members of the financial monitor committee were also elected. Aamir Said al Sifi was elected as head while Waheed Sulayyim al Habsi as deputy head of the committee.


H E Hamad Khamees al Amri, Undersecretary for Labour Affairs in the Ministry of Manpower said, ''GFOTU has played a vital role in developing labour relations in Oman.''
