(MENAFN) Smartphone sales in China dropped in the last quarter of 2013, registering the first fall in two years, Xinhua reported
Smartphone shipments in China dropped 4.3 percent in the period to 90.8 million sets, down from 94.8 million sets in the quarter before it
The drop was attributed to many customers holding off buying until supplies of 4G smartphones fully reached the market in the first quarter of this year
Also, Tablet PCs contributed to the fall, as more people turned to these as alternatives to smartphones
Senior researcher at IDC said: "The market focus now shifts from winning first-time smartphone users to persuading old users to upgrade their models.
