The preliminary reading of the consumer sentiment index came at 81.2, marginally better than forecasts of 80.2



The sub-index of current economic conditions, which indicates people"s perceptions of their financial situation, dropped to 94 this month from 96.8 last month



The sub-index that gauges consumer expectations to forecast the direction of consumer spending increased to 73.0 from 71.2 in January
