China's Xinjiang Quake Affects 58,000 People


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) More than 58,000 people have been affected by the 7.3-magnitude earthquake which struck Yutian County last Wednesday, but so far there are no reports of any casualties, local authorities said.



Around 20,000 people have been relocated, with more than 3,000 houses said to have collapsed completely, and around 15,000 damage



Relief materials, such as tents, quilts and power generators, are being delivered to the quake-hit area



And post-disaster hygiene and sanitation operations are being carried out, state-run Xinhua news agency reporte



Work teams from the National Commission for Disaster Reduction and the Civil Affairs Ministry have inspected the damage in the county, and are assisting the local government with earthquake resistance and disaster mitigation work.
