Ireland's trade surplus down 12.3 percent in 2013

(MENAFN) Official statistics show that the trade surplus in Ireland dropped 12.4 percent in 2013, Xinhua reported

Figures by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) reveal that the country's trade surplus came at USD51 billion last year, dropping from USD58.1 billion in 2012

The sharp drop in the surplus was a result of a 5.2 percent decrease in exports value as it hit USD 119 billion, and a one percent increase in imports reaching USD67.9 billion

The CSO said that the trade surplus dropped due to a fall the value of pharmaceutical and medical exports
