Telstra's net profit up 9.7 percent


(MENAFN) Australian telecommunications firm Telstra announced that its profit in the first half of the current fiscal year jumped 9.7 percent, Xinhua reported



The company made a net profit of USD1.52 billion, increasing from USD1.4 billion in the corresponding period a year earlier



Telstra managed to add 739,000 new mobile customers during the period, bringing the total number of customers to 15.8 million



The telco's Chief Executive Officer said: "We continue to invest in our core business, driving productivity and network leadership.
