77 People Killed in A Plane Crash in Algeria


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) At least 77 people including 73 military personnel were killed in a four-engine turboprop C-130 Hercules plane crash in the northeastern province of Oum al-Bouaghi, some 500 km east of the algerian capital , the Algerian Ministry of National Defense announced Wednesday



The victims also included four women among who are the wife and daughter of the deputy commander of the sixth eastern military regio



Only one person survived the tragedy and is in a serious condition, according to a military statement relayed by the Algerian news agency this evening. Deputy Minister for National Defence and Chief of Staff Lt.-Ge



Ahmed Gaid Salah visited the military hospital in Constantine and met senior military officers to discuss the causes and ramifications of the tragedy. In a related development a technical team from the leading US military plane manufacturer Lockheed Martin arrived at the Constantine International Airport to join the investigations into the accident
