(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Omanis have shown interest in a short film contest announced by the Indian government last month. Titled ‘India Is Global Video Challenge 2014', the competition invites participants from across the world to give their perception of the country through a five-minute film.

Contestants can send entries on any of the three themes - ‘India is Youthful', ‘India is Timeless' or ‘India is Undiscovered', before March 31 deadline.

Dr Maitham al Musaiwi, an orthopaedic surgeon at the Armed Forces Hospital, who also makes short films and plans to participate said, ''I have been to India.

Omani and Indian cultures are intertwined in many ways. It will be a challenging contest as there will be participants from across the world.''

Mohammed al Habsi, another short filmmaker said, ''I will participate. It's an open invitation from another country and an opportunity to showcase what we visualise India as.''

The competition is an initiative of the Public Diplomacy Division of India's Ministry of External Affairs. Rules of the contest state that entries can be in any format like fiction, animation, documentary, live action, stop motion etc. Contestants must be at least 18 years old.

The film can be in any language but should have subtitles if it's not in English.
