Omani students strike gold at GCC racing challenge


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Engineering students from the Nizwa College of Technology (NCT) won gold at the TAQA GCC Grand Prix Challenge, recently held in Abu Dhabi. The team designed a three-wheel car for the Electric Grand Prix.


Salah Hamed al Shukeili, a team member, said, ''The experience in Abu Dhabi was incredible, and we were able to finish by leaving the next rival 6km behind. We designed a fully operative car and were able to drive it at a speed above 70kmph.''


Other team members were Adnan Khalfan al Siyabi, Mohmood Hamood al Saqri, Mohammed Abdullah al Nabi, Mohammed Ahmed al Riyami, Nasrullah Khamis al Riyami, Mohamed Sult al Nabhani and Sultan Mohammed Al Kindi.


Prem Anand, media co-coordinator of NCT, said, ''The car was designed by the NCT students following guidelines set by TAQA GCC authorities. They were supervised by M K Anil Kumar, project co-coordinator.''


In the Hybrid-Electric Grand Prix, the NCT team finished third.


A ceremony was held recently at NCT to honour the team. It was attended by H E Dr Muna bint Salim al Jardaniya, Undersecretary for Technical Education and Vocational Training, in the Ministry of Manpower, who distributed prizes and mementos to the team members.
