(MENAFNEditorial) International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) plans to triple its Emirati workforce over the next three years, a senior executive announced
Mohamed Abdulla Al Suwaidi, Director Business Support Department, said the aim is to take on 500 UAE nationals in positions across the board, as IPIC's portfolio of assets and projects expands. The recruitment drive is part of the company's Emiratisation programme, under the guidance of Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the management of His Excellency Khadem Al Qubaisi
Mr Al Suwaidi was speaking after the company's first appearance at the Tawdheef Recruitment Show, an event he described as "hugely successful.
IPIC, the Abu Dhabi Government's energy investment company, will require staff to fill vacancies in ambitious domestic ventures including its Fujairah Refinery Project, ChemaWEyaat, ADCOP, and EmiratesLNG, to meet the country's future energy demands
"At IPIC we believe that Emiratis are our main investment, so we have in place a strategy to offer 500 positions for Emiratis over the next three years," said Mr Al Suwaidi. "That will effectively triple the size of our workforce
"The first option for us in filling each position will be an Emirati, but if we end up recruiting a non-local we will take on three Emiratis as trainees to develop their knowledge under him.
Hundreds of Emirati students and jobseekers visited IPIC's eye-catching stand at the Tawdheef exhibition, part of the Emiratisation Summit at ADNEC. It was a chance for them to learn more about the company and the kind of job opportunities, graduate training and career development programmes it offers
The idea for the stand – designed to resemble the company's headquarters on Muroor Road – was the brainchild of Khawla Al Mheiri, who joined IPIC's corporate communications team nine months ago after graduating from Zayed University

"Right at the beginning they made me a project manager for the Expo Sciences International event so I created a team and a strategy for the project," said the 26-year-old. "I was expected to come up with ideas and this experience taught me a lot
"IPIC gave me a lot of responsibility as soon as I started, and expected me to use my initiative. That built trust on my side. I think this is something quite unique about IPIC
"They are looking for people with the right personal qualities, not just academic qualifications.
Explaining her concept for IPIC's exhibition space at Tawdheef, she said: "As our profile grows, it's important that people know about IPIC and what it is: that's why we created this stand based on the appearance of our building. When they see the stand they will know that the building on Muroor Road is IPIC
"It's important that IPIC comes to an event like Tawdheef – many people say 'we have seen your logo, but we don't know what IPIC is'. This is a chance for them to find out
