Japan's farm, marine exports hit new record

(MENAFN) Figures by the Japanese farm ministry show that a record number of farm and marine products were exported by Japan last year, Xinhua reported

The ministry said that exports of farm and marine products went up 22.4 percent last year, to USD5.36 billion

The previous farm and marine exportation record was logged in 1984 when exports hit USD5.19 billion. The ministry's target is to double the amount by 2020

The rise in farm and marine exports was due to an increase to the local currency's weakness and a growing demand for traditional Japanese food
