20 students from South Korea explore Oman


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) It was the second week of learning and exploring Oman for the 20 students from Hanyang University of South Korea who have arrived here for the 26-day Winter School 2014 programme of Middle East College, which commenced on January 26.


They have already visited Amouage, The Grand Mosque, Natural History Museum, and Fun Zone, Nizwa souq and Nizwa fort, Al Hoota cave and Misfa Al-Abri'en. Also they visited the Royal Opera House, Bait al Baranda, Al Alam Palace, Bait al Zubair and Muttrah Souq. The students have a schedule arranged by the Career Services & Enterprise Engagement center at the College with short courses including English language modules, extra-curricular activities and field trips to industrial and tourist destinations keeping them engaged all through the course.


They have had a couple of sessions on Arabic, Omani and Islamic Culture, as well as digital design, photography, and drama. The Korean students, an equal mix of boys and girls, on their part delivered a couple of lectures to the students of Middle East College on the quintessence of Korean culture, and Korean language basics, with more sessions to follow in the next two weeks. The visiting students are keeping themselves fit by taking up sports activities in the sports hall of the Middle East College and on the beach.


The students will leave Oman on February 21. The Winter School programme offers an opportunity for international students to share knowledge and learn firsthand about the history of Oman.
