Competence sponsors HR Oman Summit


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The leading human resource and training consultancy in Oman, Competence HR had supported the ''Third Annual HR Oman Summit'' held organised recently.


The company played an active role through participation and sponsorship, reiterating its commitment to raising the bar for human resources and training & development in Oman.


Over the three-day workshop, top level management from Competence HR discoursed on various subjects related to human resource management in the context of maximising talent towards the successful implementation of organisation goals. Amer Al Fadhil, managing director delivered a keynote speech entitled `Investment in People'. Mark Pudwell, training manager, Competence HR, partook in a panel leading a discussion on ‘HR in fostering talent development and growth'.


On the last day of the summit, Tonia Gray, general manager at Competence HR, led a workshop on ‘Innovative learning – A different perspective'. Fadhil said, ''This is a great opportunity for us and other professionals in the human resource business to convene and discuss training & development strategies, share insights, and consider best HR practices. We are proud to be associated with the event as it creates a common platform for exchanging expertise and experience.''


Fadhil stressed the importance and the benefits of investing in people. ''My experience of training and development has shown me that whilst many companies and organisations are indeed beginning to invest in their employees' development, much of this investment has been made without considering the benefits of post programme evaluations,'' Fadhil said. ''Training and developmental programmes must ideally be aligned to, or meet the requirements of recognized professional organizations and standards.


Furthermore, the conclusion of any programme must end with an assessment of what the delegate has understood and learnt,'' he emphasised. Fahdil said, ''We have initiated a process at Competence HR whereby all our training programmes are concluded with a brief assessment of the transfer of knowledge to the delegate. To date, we are happy to report that most all participants as well as their organisations stand beneficiaries of the time, effort, and money they have invested.''


Fahdil's address also discussed how getting people development right has a direct positive impact on bottom lines. He drew extensively on Competence HR's first-hand experience with a satisfied and growing clientele, to highlight the importance of consistency in training and development.
