Microsoft Jordan Launches Technology Rocks! Student Competition

(MENAFNEditorial) Amman, February 2014 - Microsoft Jordan launched its Technology Rocks! competition in collaboration with Nokia Jordan. The competition targets students, ages 14 - 16, from several internationally-accredited private schools across the Kingdom. In later phases, the competition will also encompass public schools in Jordan. Launching the competition emphasizes Microsoft Jordan's efforts to support the national plan for local education initiatives, promote innovation and creativity amongst school students, as well as integrate the latest technologies into the learning and teaching process.

As part of the competition, students from each of the participating schools will design a project utilizing the most recent technology innovations, such as the Nokia Lumia Windows Phone, Windows 8, Office 365, and the latest natural user interface devices. Throughout the duration of the competition, which will run until April, Microsoft's team of specialists will educate the students on project design methodologies using the newest gadgets so as to give them the experience they need to be part of this exclusive program, successfully complete their projects and hopefully win the competition and its valuable prizes

Microsoft Jordan Developer and Platform Evangelist Lead, Ayman Afanah, met with the participating students at Oasis500's headquarters to discuss and showcase the cutting-edge features and uses of Microsoft's newest technologies. He also explained the competition's rules and regulations, and provided the students with the opportunity to experience Microsoft's products firsthand.

"At Microsoft Jordan, we continuously strive to come up with fun learning methods that provide young generations with the tools and skills they need to excel within the IT sector and across all major sectors. Technology Rocks! is geared towards introducing students to the latest technological advancements in an engaging and unconventional manner," commented Microsoft Jordan Country Manager Hussein Malhas.

The winning team will be announced in May 2014.
