(MENAFN) India's Maruti Suzuki announced that the production of its first small-size car has been stopped, The Peninsula Qatar reported
The Maruti 800 revolutionised road and transport for many Indians and was the first car owned by many families in India since it began production in 1983
The company's executive director said: "We have stopped the M-800 (Maruti 800) production." The decision to halt production was made back in 2010
It would be much harder to make the Maruti 800 meet with stricter emission standards to reduce pollution
