(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The Distribution Code Review Panel (DCRP), which regulates the distribution of electricity less than 132Kv, opened its headquarters in Ghala on Sunday. DCRP was established as per Article 90 of the Royal Decree 78/2004 to regulate the water and electricity sector.
The headquarters will have product, contractors and consultants, protection/testing engineer approval sections and an HSE section.
The panel will review the distribution of electricity less than 132Kv by coordinating with distributors, the authority for electricity regulation and companies that operate in the sector.
Earlier, DCRP, which lacked a regular office, was dependent on designated employees in the Muscat Electricity Distribution Company, Mazoon Electricity Company, Majan Electricity Company, Rural Areas Electricity Company, Oman Power & Water Procurement Company and the Oman Electricity Transmission Company to run its affairs.
Speaking on the occasion, Eng Hamed al Maghderi, chairman, DCRP said, ''The panel coordinates with different companies operating in the electricity sector. We realised that there was a need for a separate office as our workload had increased over the last few years.''
Eng Omar al Wahaibi of Electricity Holding Company, said, ''The head office will help DCRP to liaise with contractors operating in the electricity sector in a better way.''
