(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) A seven year old student of Indian School Sur and a teenaged driver of a saloon car were killed in a collision in Sur on Sunday morning. Twenty four other students on the school bus were also injured when it was hit head-on by the car.
The accident comes less than three weeks after the one in Muscat that left three Pakistan School Muscat students dead.
While the car driver died on the spot, the boy who was in the bus succumbed to his injuries in Sur Hospital. Six of the injured students were being treated, a doctor at the hospital said. They were reported to be out of danger.
M A K Shajahan, honorary Indian Embassy counsellor in Sur, said that the driver of the car lost control after hitting another vehicle and crashed into the school bus. The school bus driver also received minor injuries.
Speeding and slippery roads due to morning rain are said to have caused the accident, Shajahan said. The bus, owned by Indian School Sur, was carrying 37 children.
