Podladtchikov plans to pepper halfpipe champion White

(MENAFN- Kora) The Russian-Swiss snowboarder finished fourth at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, with White the hot favourite to claim the gold he has won at consecutive Olympics

White pulled out of the slopestyle contest to focus solely on the halfpipe, taking several practice runs in Sochi on Sunday

Podladtchikov's plan for the event is simply to make life hard for the American, with that likely to be enough to feature in the medals

"I'd like to show a run where it'll be really hard for Shaun White to beat me," he said

"I think that from the tricks and my jump height, I feel they are more consistent and technically better than ever, so it's hard to find an answer

"I'd obviously be happy to, after my fourth place in Vancouver, trailing 0.04 behind, to get a medal but that's secondary

"The main goal is to make Shaun's life hard.

Podladtchikov is unsure just what is in store for riders, but said he was getting more height out of the pipe in Sochi

"It's a really great pipe, you can go really high on this one," he said

"But the fact that it's a little more narrow than usual has actually made the trick combinations a little more rough

"I can't tell you after one day of practice, but it's going to be interesting.
