Top two Adelaide, Perth thrashed in NBL

(MENAFN- Kora) The Hawks capitalised on a blistering start to claim a 102-80 win over the 36ers in a major upset

Adelaide are second on the ladder, but were 60-40 down at half-time against the fast-starting Wollongong

They were never in the hunt despite Adam Gibson's 21 points and good showings from Daniel Johnson (19 points) and Mitch Creek (18)

Rotnei Clarke led the way for the Hawks with an 18-point haul, while also contributing five assists and four rebounds

Clarke was one of six Hawks to manage double figures in points in an excellent team performance for a side sitting second bottom

The high-flying Perth Wildcats were overrun in another surprise result, beaten 88-75 by the Townsville Crocodiles

League leaders Perth took a lead into the fourth quarter against the Crocs, but were outscored 26-9 in a one-sided final term

Steve Markovic hit a team-high 22 points for the league's bottom side

It was Markovic who led the Crocs to two wins in as many days as he scored 24 in their 90-82 win over the Cairns Taipans on Saturday

Not even 33 points from Gary Wilkinson was enough for the New Zealand Breakers, who were edged 98-96 by the Sydney Kings
