Oman crude output climbs 2.3 in 2013


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Oman's crude oil and condensates production amounted to 343,811,486 barrels in 2013, compared with 336,160,700 barrels in 2012, constituting a rise of 2.3 per cent, says the annual report released by the Ministry of Oil and Gas. 


The report showed that the average daily production rose by 2.6 per cent in 2013 to reach 941,949 barrels a day (bpd), compared with 918,500 bpd in 2012.


The monthly report also added that the total exported crude oil in 2013 amounted to 304,173,612 barrels, compared with 279,805,100 barrels in 2012, constituting a rise of 8.7 per cent.


Notably, China topped the list of Omani crude oil importers in 2013 with 180,785,462 barrels, comprising 59.43 per cent of the total import, followed by Japan with 29,304,300 barrels and Taiwan with 27,389,200 barrels.


As for the movement of the oil markets during 2013, oil prices witnessed fluctuations in the global markets, constituting a decline of 3.7 per cent as the annual average of the Omani crude oil stood at US$105.51 per barrel, compared with US$109.61 per barrel in 2012.


The average price for American crude oil in New York (Chicago) market in 2013 amounted to US$96.74 per barrel, comprising a rise of 60 cents, while the North Sea (Brent) basket averaged US$108.59 per barrel, a decline of US$2.71.
