(MENAFN -Arab News) The Bab Rizq Jameel (BRJ) photography award, organized by Abdul Latif Jameel Community Initiatives (ALJCI), has taken on a new dimension, transforming into the Jameel Photography Award (JPA).The initiative has widened its reach to the international horizon, spreading its wings from the boundaries of national participation to welcome global citizens, as well as expatriates in Saudi Arabia.ALJCI launched JPA in cooperation with Arabian Wings. Since its inception in 2010, the award has received much national acclaim, and it is this very success that challenged ALJCI into considering a regional and international revamping which will allow for greater dialogue and deeper understanding of the magical medium that is photography. The BRJ Photography Award’s team has worked very hard over the last three years to generate employment opportunities for talented young male and female photographers, encouraging them to use their creative skills to enter the job market. As a result many newly discovered photographers are now employed in a variety of related sectors, such as journalism, advertising and the media sector as a whole.Zain Zedan, Arts and Culture manager at Abdul Latif Jameel Community Initiatives (ALJCI) in Saudi Arabia, said: “This award is one of the most valuable ALJCI awards for young men and women. It aims to create crucial job opportunities in the creative and technical fields, encouraging the future generation to join this important sector.”“This year, we are planning to take talented photographers of all nationalities living in Saudi Arabia under ALJCI’s umbrella. We have opened our arms to welcome citizens, residents and photographers to participate in the award’s competition so they can avail of the opportunity to become one of the best photographers of ALJCI,” she said.“We are thrilled that this year, the contest is open to citizens and residents of the country, welcoming all ages, from youth to the medium’s pioneers,” said Arabian Wings Founder Mohammed Bahraoui. The press and private ceremony announcing the winners will take place on Jan. 31. The full winners exhibition will coincide with Jeddah Art Week (JAW) at Al-Furusyia Marina and Yacht Club. It will be open on Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. and will be available to the public until Feb. 28.Email: [email protected]/* */
