Gang stealing building material arrested


(MENAFN-Arab News) A 17-member gang involved in theft of building materials from construction sites, vehicles and household appliances has been arrested by Riyadh police. According to police, the gang included 13 Pakistanis, two Afghans, one Saudi and another person whose identity is yet to be confirmed. On a tip-off, police stopped a truck with stolen building materials being driven to an unknown site. Subsequently, the police found that the goods were being taken to a massive warehouse in a suburb in the east of the capital. Investigations revealed that the gang of thieves had rented a resort to keep their stolen goods before they are sold to customers.During the raid at the resort, police also unearthed a fleet of stolen cars, building materials, gas cylinders, household appliances, eight motorcycles, air conditioners, 10 mobile phones and SR16,276 in cash. The suspects have confessed to charges of theft and they will be produced before court for necessary punishment after completion of police investigations.
