(MENAFN) The CEO of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said that the Dubai metro system is set to be expanded following the emirate's Expo 2020 win, Arabian Business reported
The CEO said: "We did not finalise the alignment but we are tendering the project very soon so we can finish before Expo 2020.
The extension will see a direct connection between both city airports, stretching from Jebel Ali to the Expo site next to the new Al Maktoum International Airport
Since RTA was created in 2005, the percentage of journeys jumped from six percent to 13 percent in 2013, as journey numbers doubled from 163 million to 330 million
