Mercedes sales increase 15.4 percent in Jan.


(MENAFN) Germany's Mercedes-Benz sales in January came strong on the back of firm demand in China, Xinhua reported



The carmaker has sold 109,477 units worldwide during the month, up 15.4 percent from the corresponding month a year ago



In China, Mercedes sold 24,199 units, soaring 44.9 percent from the prior year period and placing China as the most contributor to the worldwide record sales



The German automaker sold 5.9 percent more cars in Europe increasing to 40,830 units, while in Germany alone, Mercedes' market share was at 9.2 percent with 13,595 units sold



A member of the Divisional Board Mercedes-Benz Cars said: "After the record year in 2013 we are starting into another year of growth with strong products.
