(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) The accused, an Emirati, is believed to have summoned the Indonesian maid to his room on the pretext of ironing his clothes.
A 29-year-old man stood in the dock on Wednesday on charges of raping his housemaid at home while his wife was in the hospital. The accused, an Emirati, is believed to have summoned the Indonesian maid to his room on the pretext of ironing his clothes.
The incident happened on November 27, last year. He was charged with rape in the Court of First Instance.
The 30-year-old maid said during the investigation that prior to this incident, the defendant had sexually harassed her several times.
"Around 10.30pm (on the day of the incident), he called me on my phone and told me to give him a massage. I refused saying I didn't know how to," she said. He went to her room about half an hour later and knocked, but she did not open the door, she said. "I was in the kitchen at around 2.30am preparing breakfast for his wife, who was at hospital, when the accused came and told me to go to his room to iron his clothes."
As she went to the main hall, he pushed her inside his room, and locked the door. "He pushed me down and sat on my abdomen. I begged him to let me go but he threatened to kill me if I did not keep quiet."
He allegedly raped her after that. "He then gave me Dh200, which I declined to take at first. But I took it when he threatened to break my hand."
Around 10am the same day, she said, she packed her stuff and left the house. But her employer saw her and made her ride back to the house in his car.
She contacted the Indonesian embassy and the recruitment office and was instructed to seek police help.
Two other Kenyan maids in the same house told the police that they saw the complainant crying in the kitchen on the day of the incident.
The Crime Lab report showed that the DNA traces of semen taken off the complainant's body matched with the defendant's. The same DNA was found on the maid's clothes.
