Pearce steps down as Oman Air CEO

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Oman Air announced that its chief executive officer, Wayne Pearce, has decided to leave the airline, effective February 28, after more than two years in charge.

Oman Air chairman H E Darwish al Balushi announced Pearce's departure, saying: ''Working with the board, Pearce has done an excellent job of steering Oman Air through a key phase of development.''

''Pearce leaves Oman Air after introducing greater frequency on a number of key routes, increasing revenue and passenger numbers, as also improving on-time performance,'' H E Balushi said in a press release on Wednesday.

''Following a period of rapid expansion, all the vital elements are now in place for the next phase of Oman Air's growth, while also safeguarding the continued increases in passenger numbers,'' said Balushi.

On managing Oman Air through a key phase of its development, Pearce said, ''I am pleased to have played a role in ensuring that Oman Air is now a more professionally capable airline, while maintaining a clear focus on delivering the highest quality standards in all the areas of the airline's operations.''

Pearce added, ''Oman Air has been able to gain a major increase in its passenger seat factor to 76 per cent, while achieving an over 30 per cent growth in load, with a 16 per cent increase in seats. Yields have also grown, and last year, Oman Air carried 5mn passengers.''
