S. Korea consumer prices up 1.1 percent in Jan.


(MENAFN) Consumer prices in South Korea increased 1.1 last month versus the same month a year earlier, remaining in the early one percent range for three months running, Xinhua reported



Consumer prices went up 0.5 percent in the month when compared to December, following a 0.1 percent increase in December



The on-month fast gain pace is due to the Lunar New Year holiday coming in January this year. Farm goods prices usually increase before this holiday



Electricity, tap water and gas prices surged 2.3 percent in January from the month before on the back of a 5.8 percent increase in city gas prices
