Oman crashes to another defeat


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Oman succumbed to its third loss at the 16th Asian Men's Handball Championship on Monday, losing 26-27 to UAE in a Group B match in Manama, Bahrain.


The second straight loss dashed Oman's hopes of making it to the 2015 World Men's Handball Championship, to be held in Qatar.


Oman, which played five matches in its group, won two matches and lost thrice.


It is currently in fifth place in its group.


The sultanate boys began the tournament on a winning note, beating Iraq 33-24, but lost 31-40 to Kuwait in the next game. It then shocked Japan 23-22, before losing to Qatar 13-29 on Saturday.


Qatar is on top of Group B with four wins from as many matches and is through to the semifinals. Kuwait is provisionally in second place with three wins from five games.


Bahrain and Iran are through to the last four stage from Group A.
