Vietnam economy grows 5.4 percent in 2013


(MENAFN) The Vietnamese economy grew by 5.42 percent last year with foreign direct investment (FDI) accounting for one fifth of the gross domestic product (GDP), Qatar News Agency reported



FDI pledges in the country hit USD21.6 billion, far beyond the expected figure of between USD13 billion and USD14 billion



During the first six months of 2013, FDI pledges came at USD10.5 billion, increasing 15 percent from the year before it, while FDI disbursement hit USD5.7 billion in the period, going up 5.6 percent



FDI pledges and disbursement rose in the following months to the end of 2013, as pledges increased to USD21.6 billion and disbursement to USD11.5 billion
