Team effort the key to Seattle's maiden Super Bowl win

(MENAFN- Kora) The Seahawks' defence played a huge part in their 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos, while they got their offense going to score at will

Wilson said it was exactly how the Seahawks wanted to finish the NFL season, delighted with his team's all-round game

"Preparation was unbelievable and it was a great team win. Special teams, Percy Harvin coming back with a kick-off return," he said

"The defence was relentless. Offensively, we were clicking on all cylinders

"That's what we wanted to be, especially the last game of the season to finished that way in that fashion, that's our mindset

"We want to be champions; every day and bring it every time.

Outspoken Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman was delighted, while paying tribute to Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning

Manning finished with a Super Bowl record for completed passes (34) but failed to have an impact on the encounter

"I hope we etched our names in the history books. This is the number one offense (Denver's) in the history of the NFL and we were able to play a good game against them," Sherman said

"Peyton Manning may go down as one of the greatest to ever play the game and we're just blessed to have an opportunity to play against him. I can't believe it.

Malcolm Smith was named the Most Valuable Player for his defensive efforts and intercepting a Manning pass to score a touchdown

"He (Manning) was just kind of working the other side of the field with his eyes. He came back and he was checking the ball down quick. He does that. He's been doing that for years," Smith said

"Somebody got a hold of his arm and it came out real high and I was fortunate to pick it, man. It was just excellent teamwork and I'm just representing the team.

That was one of five touchdowns scored by the Seahawks, with the pick being Percy Harvin's 87-yard kick-off return to start the second half

"We were calling for it all week. We knew it was a good chance. We had to put that on film all year and the guys did a heck of a job blocking. As soon as I caught the ball, it was open field," Harvin said of the TD

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll was delighted to be able to deliver Seattle their first ever Super Bowl win

"We feel terrific about it. It's been a long year but the team really dedicated to getting this done and now we can say we're world champions," he said
