(MENAFN - Arab Times) The Contracts Department of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor has uncovered yet another scandal, this time involving a soccer player of international fame who allegedly owns a subcontracting company, reports Annahar daily quoting reliable sources.
According to sources some departments are involved in the scam who have facilitated the issuance of 650 'fake' visas in the name of government contracts.
The visa holders have reportedly entered the country and nobody knows where and who they work for. Police are now looking for the Egyptian who applied for the visas on behalf of the company.
According to reports the company of the suspect is named in the government contract as the subcontractor and the owner of the company had initially requested the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor to allow him 1,900 temporary visas for a government contract.
The sources added what is amazing is to see the complicity of some vested interests in the government since they have helped the 'football player' evade the payment of bank guarantee, which is a prerequisite before opening the file for employment which is KD 250 per worker and the total amount comes up to KD 162,500 which the State Treasury has been deprived of.
The source confirmed the administration of government contracts after discovering the fraud is looking to uncover the facts in cooperation with the security agencies.
