(MENAFN - Qatar News Agency) Sudanese President Omer Al-Bashir has met here with Vice President of South Sudan James Wani, who acquainted President Al-Bashir with the current situation in South Sudan.
During the meeting which came on the sidelines of the African Union summit, Al-Bashir emphasized his commitment to support efforts to restore stability to the State of South Sudan and to help it to overcome the current crisi
He also reiterated Sudan's stand with the initiative of the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) which aims at defusing the crisis through peaceful solutions and peaceful transfer of power. For his part, Wani has affirmed the commitment of his government to an agreement on cessation of hostilities, appreciating Sudan efforts to push ahead the peace process in South Sudan, according to Sudan news agency (SUNA
He announced that the negotiations between the dispute parties in South Sudan would begin on February
Wani also announced that the government of South Sudan has released seven of the detainees who were involved in the coup attempt, reiterating his government commitment to the agreement that it has signed with Machar part
Wani and President Al-Bashir also discussed progress of the economic and trade relations as well as issues of oil and the joint border.
