Royal Oman Police news Lt Gen Shuraiqi meets US officer


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Lt Gen Hassan bin Mohsin al Shuraiqi, inspector general of police and customs received at the Police General Command in Qurm, on Wednesday, Maj Gen Michael K Nagata, special operations commander at the US Central Command and his accompanying delegation.


According to a statement, the meeting discussed different aspects of cooperation between the two sides.


The meeting was attended by Maj Hamad bin Suleiman al Hatmi, assistant inspector general of police and customs and senior ROP officers.

Illegal mobile phone seller arrested


One person was arrested in Ibri for selling duplicate mobile phones. According to the ROP release, his residence card stated that he was a carpenter. He used to forge the serial number and country name before selling the phones.

One arrested for burglary in Dakhliyah


The police command of Dakhliyah governorate arrested a person for burglary and theft in several houses occupied by expats in Nizwa and Bahla.


An official source said that the ROP had received a number of calls recently regarding cases of theft at several expats' houses in the two wilayats.


The accused reportedly has a criminal history and has confessed to committing burglary and vandalising 12 houses. He has been referred to the Public Prosecution. ROP has called upon citizens and residents to take necessary precaution.

Three arrested for theft in North Sharqiyah


Officials of the North Sharqiyah Police Command arrested three persons, including a 13 year old citizen, on the charges of theft.


Two were arrested in Bidiyah on investigations following a report of burglary from a citizen's house. The men, who are Arabs, have admitted their crime and the necessary legal procedures against them have been initiated.


The 13 year old was arrested in a separate incident, also in  Bidiyah. The youth had stolen from several shops and their owners registered complaints with the police.

5 held for running prostitution racket in Ibri


The ROP has arrested five expatriates including a woman on charges of prostitution in the wilayat of Ibri in Dhahirah governorate. The five were arrested after the Inquiries and Criminal Investigation Department got information regarding the racket.

Traffic Safety Institute organises lecture to spread awareness


The Traffic Safety Institute organised a lecture at the Seeb Air Base for the employees of the Royal Air Force of Oman recently.


The lecture is part of the efforts exerted by the Directorate General of Traffic to spread awareness on road safety.


Meanwhile, the institute also received a number of female teachers from the Durat al Hashimyah for Basic Education School.


The lecture stressed on the importance of road safety and traffic regulations and laws. The lecture was also accompanied by a practical exercise at the Traffic Safety Hall.


The importance of fastening seat belts while driving and the role of head rest to prevent injury during accidents were also discussed.
