UAE to import gas from US and Canada

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The UAE is considering following other nations that have invested in the US and Canada in order to secure imports of cheap, North American natural gas.

Asian nations including Japan and China are among the biggest buyers of liquefied natural gas on long term contracts. Abundant production from US shale rock formations has lowered US prices for gas, attracting investment from Asia, Europe and potentially the Middle East as well

"We may follow the same trend of considering investments in the United States and Canada to bring some of that gas back home," UAE Energy Minister Suhail bin Mohamed Al Mazrouei said at a Chatham House energy conference in London on Tuesday
