Oman's fish catch dives 4.5 percent


(MENAFN) The Omani National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) said that the total catch for the fisheries sector in the country dropped by 4.5 percent in value in the first 9 months of 2013, Times of Oman reported



A total of 120,781 tons of fish, crustaceans and mollusks were caught by the end of September 2013 at a value of USD246,279 versus 141,005 tons at USD257,876 in the same period in 2012



The NCSI statistics reveal that the volume of fish catch dropped in most regions of the Sultanate, except Muscat, which recorded a surge of 13.9 percent in the period
