Oman Olympic Day events to be held in Muscat, Sohar and Salalah

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) will organise Oman Olympic Day events in Muscat, Sohar and Salalah on Wednesday. Oman Olympic Day is an annual event that aims at raising awareness on the importance of an active and balanced lifestyle through sports.

The events will be held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in in Muscat, Silver Jubilee Park in Sohar and Gardens Mall in Salalah.

The events are being organised in partnership with McDonald's Oman.

Jahad Abdullah al Shaikh, board member, OOC said, ''Earlier, Oman Olympic Day events were held in only one city, mostly in Muscat. This time, we have decided to organise these events in three places so that people from different areas can experience the Olympic spirit.''

The annual event which will feature a number of sporting activities and fun events, will begin with a 3km walk around the three venues.

In a statement, Ali K Daud, development licensee and president of McDonald's Oman, said, ''As a worldwide partner of the International Olympic Committee and FIFA World Cup, McDonald's promotes active and balanced lifestyle through its network of restaurants around the world.

''In Oman, McDonald's is proud to collaborate with OOC to organise this annual event in line with our CSR commitments to promote an active living through sports activities. Now that this day will be celebrated in three cities, we expect that it will attract larger number of people and create an even greater awareness on the importance of staying fit and healthy.''

Meanwhile, Saada al Ismaili, OOC board member said, ''We encourage school and university students and people from different walks of life to participate in these events.''
