Expired visa causing delay in repatriation of expat's body from Oman


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The body of the Indian expatriate Anil Kumar Gurunadhathody, who was found dead in Barka on December 30 with his throat slit, is yet to flown home.


A relative said the family was not aware of the reasons behind the delay. ''Neither the Indian Embassy nor the sponsor have been able to say when the body will be repatriated to Kerala,'' said Prasad Kallukuzi, a relative who had filed a complaint with the embassy alleging foul play in the death.


When contacted, a senior embassy official told Muscat Daily that Gurunadhathody's labour contract visa had expired, causing the delay. ''Embassy officials are constantly in touch with the sponsor to clear the problems,'' the official said.


''We are trying to find his old civil card number since he had worked in Oman for some years before returning to join the company in Barka,'' the official added.


Gurunadhathody's sponsor said that he has requested the Indian Embassy and concerned government departments in Oman to speed up the matte
