WB to invest USD1b in Myanmar


(MENAFN) The World Bank (WB) is intending to invest USD1 billion in Myanmar's power sector over the next five years, Xinhua reported



WB president said that the investment in the sector will include generation, transmission and distribution of energy



The president said that Myanmar, with these funds, could raise access to electricity to 50 percent of the population by the end of the decade, as 70 percent of the population currently lack access to electricity
