Kuwait- Court Orders Bank To Return Interest Taken On Loan

(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Labor Division of the Court of Appeals presided over by Judge Bader Al- Saraawi ordered a local bank to refund the interest on a loan taken by a female employee of the bank, paying annual interest of 5 percent for the loan of KD 26,000. Through this verdict, the court overturned the ruling of the Court of First Instance, which had dismissed the case. Counsel to the plaintiff Lawyer Ahmad Awda Al-Dousari disclosed that his client has been working with the bank on a monthly salary of KD 1,500 until end of service

She demanded for her rights from the bank but the bank refused to comply, which left her no option but to approach the court for justice. He explained that the report of the expert in charge of assessing his client's rights, which the previous verdict was based on, was invalid because the expert did not consider his client's right for the refund of the loan interests and indemnity along with other benefits. He stressed that the court failed to apply the Constitution due to this error

Meanwhile, the Criminal Court adjourned until April 29 the hearing on a case filed against several citizens, including former MPs, who repeated the statement of ex-MP Musallam Al-Barrak when he delivered a speech in the seminar entitled, 'Stop Frivolity'. This is the second batch of people accused of repeating the statement of Al-Barrak. The court decided to postpone the hearing in order to summon the officer in charge of the case to listen to his testimony. Case files indicate the Public Prosecution referred five cases to the court. The total number of those involved in these cases is 67; among them are members of the majority bloc in the nullified legislature, columnists, journalists, political activists and a Kuwaiti woman
