Canada's Bombardier cuts 1,700 jobs


(MENAFN- AFP) Canadian aeronautics company Bombardier announced Tuesday it is eliminating 1,700 jobs in Canada and the United States.The action comes after the company announced a 19 percent drop in orders last year.The 1,700 jobs to be eliminated amount to 4.4 percent of Bombardier's workforce, with 1,100 in the Montreal region and 600 at a factory in the US state of Kansas.A spokesperson said the jobs slated for elimination include 300 cut in December.
